In Miami there are good elementary schools, that is, from kindergarten to eighth grade, but when children start high school , parents consider other factors such as which school will give their child the best preparation and facilitate their entry into a good university.

Although private schools are expensive in the United States, many parents are willing to make the effort not only so that the child prepares well but that the school contributes to his formation as a good man or woman. Here are the best schools in Miami.

Best Schools in Miami

1. Bethlehem College

First I have to say that the oldest of my children graduated from this school so I will try to be as objective as I can….It’s a great school!!!Seriously… It has it all, a magnificent campus, a great education, an important religious and spiritual formation to navigate troubled waters.

The Jesuits have always distinguished themselves by the excellence of their education and this particular college is very good. Not only my son, but his schoolmates are balanced children equipped with a good moral compass and an excellent academic foundation.

2. Ransom Everglades

This school is academically without a doubt the best in Miami. It’s hard to get admitted and so is keeping notes once you’re there. Those who go to this college are really serious students and once they graduate they are admitted to the best universities in the country, even the Ivy League. It has a very, very good reputation. It’s expensive but it’s worth it. The school’s motto is “to produce graduates who believe they are not in the world to see what they can extract from it if not what they can bring to it.”

3. Gulliver

It is a good school but a bit like a “country club” and the first to say it are the students themselves. Gulliver is not a school known for its academic excellence but a good co-educational, modern school, with many sports and extracurricular activities. If your child is not a scholar and you do not mind that he has religious training this is a good option. This does not mean that many graduate from this school with fantastic grades and go to good universities. It has an International Baccalaureate program

4. Carrollton

This is a school of the nuns of the Sacred Heart but in “Chic”. It is only for girls and has a lot of academic rigor. As it is expensive it also has a certain air of exclusivity but it is known for its excellence. It has an International Baccalaureate (IB) program and its graduates are accepted to the best universities in the country.

5. Our Lady of Lourdes Academy

Lourdes is also a very good girls’ school. It costs half as much as Carrollton and offers an exceptional education and religious formation. Most of the girls who go to Lourdes end up creating a “sorority” that they keep for life. The school does not invite the same social competition that exists at Carrollton.

6. Palmer Trinity

Palmer Trinity is a super school. He is Episcopalian and maintains a good balance between academic rigor and instigating a spiritual and moral life in his students. Among the values they try to instill in children is academic excellence, spiritual growth and service to others. The college is co-educational and its graduates are admitted to top universities in the country, including many in the Ivy leagues.

7. Immaculata-La Salle

This was the “second choice” Catholic school for years in Miami. If your children were not admitted to the four major schools Bethlehem and Columbus for boys and Carrollton and Lourdes for girls, you had no choice but to send them to La Salle. However, lately La Salle is a first choice. There are many children who want to go to a mixed school and it is an alternative for your children to be educated in a religious school that also has a good academic level.

8. Columbus

The students of Columbus and Bethlehem have been rivals since time immemorial and I’m not going to get into that… Columbus is a very good boys’ school. It is a Catholic school of Marist priests who instill a solid spiritual formation in young people. There are those who say that it is not as good as Belén in the academic order but I believe that it does have rigor in its studies and many of its graduates are admitted to the best universities in the country.

9. Cushman

This school has an excellent reputation. The school’s mission is “to develop students who are responsible citizens and future leaders and who can maintain a positive and happy disposition in life.” To achieve this this school, which is not religious, emphasizes values and virtues and fosters confidence in children as well as self-discipline.

10. Miami Country Day

The advantage of this school is that you do not have to be changing when high school arrives since your child can isolate from pre-kindergarten to graduation. This school has a good college prep program and the extracurricular programs are excellent.
