Seven Miami-Dade County high schools finished in the top 100 nationwide, according to the most recent report from U.S. News & World Report.
The design and architecture high school (known as DASH), located in Miami’s Design District, ranked 22nd nationally among more than 20,000 public high schools. International Studies Charter High, located in Little Havana, and the International Studies Preparatory Academy in Coral Gables also finished in the top 50, taking 24th and 31st places respectively. Other local schools finished in the top 100: Young Women’s Preparatory Academy in Little Havana (ranked 52nd), Archimedean Upper Conservatory Charter School in Kendale Lakes (81st), José Martí MAST 6-12 Academy in Hialeah (88th), and Maritime and Science Technology Academy (MAST) Academy in Key Biscayne (100th).
Miami-Dade also ranked well in the state results, taking four of the top 10 spots in Florida, although Sarasota County’s Pine View School defeated Miami-Dade’s and won first place. Nationally, Arizona charter schools finished in the top five. A magnet high school in Dallas, Texas, made the top five.
South Florida schools did well among charters in U.S. News’ rankings, finishing International Studies Charter High among the top 10 in the country, and magnet school scores, which focus on particular subjects such as Science and Languages. DASH and International Studies Preparatory Academy ranked seventh and eighth respectively among magneto schools. Therefore, the power of education in the state of Florida is highlighted.
