Yachts, submersible drones and ‘flyboard’ met at two nautical fairs, held this weekend in the city of Miami.

The city of Miami, in southeast Florida (USA.), became the weekend in the largest center of fun and nautical luxury in the world with two large fairs and two thousand pleasure boats, in addition to exhibiting the most innovative technology, submersible drones and water sports.

The Yacht appointment Miami Beach, in its 30th edition, became a must stop to contemplate dazzling boutique and super luxury yachts, such as the “Double Down”, 65 meters long, almost all anchored along more than 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) on the Collins Avenue pier.

The exclusive yachts, superyachts and the latest in marine technology and accessories on display make this show “spectacular and attracts thousands of enthusiasts from around the world,” said Andrew Doole, general manager of Informa, which co-owns the show.

Doole focused on the good evolution of the sector, at a time when “all yacht and boat fairs in the United States and Europe have seen increased sales and exhibitor participation.”

The flyboard, a trend

Water sports enthusiasts were also able to relax with the five hundred new yachts exhibited and the daily demonstrations by professionals of the so-called flyboard and the use of submersible drones in the AquaZone area.

The flyboard, which is being imposed as a reality in the main points of nautical tourism in the world, consists of a board connected to a jet ski that allows the pilot to propel himself up to 12 meters high, in the case of experts.

“The ‘flyboard’ is one of the most innovative water toys and a novelty in the AquaZone of the Miami Yacht Show, along with the VIP floating platform in the center of the venue offering drinks and snacks,” added Doole, who assured that tens of thousands of people will visit the yacht exhibition of Miami Beach.

The Miami Beach exhibition takes place entirely on the water, on an 8-kilometer dock facility over the sea, a circuit carpeted with straight metal and wood walkways on whose sides are docked all kinds of yachts and superyachts that fans can visit.

A showcase that tempts with more than half a thousand boats and, according to the organization, generates an impact in the region of about 11,000 million dollars and creates about 136,000 direct and indirect jobs.

This impressive 111,630-square-meter (1.3 million-square-foot) exhibit features Miami’s renovated and exclusive Watson Island Marina, the only facility in the United States designed to accommodate vessels up to 170 meters in length.

The other fair

The Miami Beach exhibition, worth more than one billion dollars, is complemented by another parallel nautical fair, the Miami International Boat Show, in Key Virginia (Bay of Key Biscayne), where 1,400 pleasure boats are exhibited and 1,100 exhibitors participate.

This other Miami event that expects to receive more than 100,000 visitors is also essential for sea enthusiasts or eager to fantasize about water sports, cutting-edge technology and design.

At Pier 9, adjacent to the iconic Miami Marine Stadium, more than fifty sailboats and catamarans are docked that make this second appointment one of the most successful in the United States, with an impact on the state economy of 854 million dollars and 6,000 jobs.

The National Association of Marine Manufacturers (NMMA) noted in a report that sales in United States of vessels and nautical items totaled 36,000 million dollars in 2016 and this figure is expected to reach 37,000 million dollars in 2017, with a forecast increase in sales of 5 to 6% in 2018.
