In October 2009, the Downtown Miami Master Plan 2025 was conceived and carried out by the Miami Development Authority (DDA). This document thought, designed and raised what should be the urban renewal of Miami in fifteen years. The goal is to “connect and maximize the potential of the Central Commercial District (CBD), the Arts and Entertainment District (A+E), Brickell and Miami’s famous waterfront,” all under the premise: “Downtown Miami, the epicenter of the Americas.”

After seven years of launching the 2025 Master Plan, in March 2016, the DDA Board of Directors reviewed it and determined to update its objectives, leaving in force the following:

  • Enhance Miami’s position as the commercial epicenter of the Americas
  • Increase the experience of arts, culture and entertainment
  • Create large urban public spaces
  • Promote transit, connectivity and mobility.
  • Improve quality of life and livability
