Members of the organization certified that this type of construction, which was carried out in Virginia Beach, south of Miami, stood as the highest in the world at 15.87 meters high.

Since November of last year, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) held this title with a work of 11.63 meters.

Lilian Cortés, an Argentine who lives in Miami, said she was “fascinated” by the “work of art” in which twelve artists were working to sculpt it.

“I heard it on television and saw that they were building this monument. I think it’s a wonderful idea that will attract a lot of tourists,” she said.

The work, however, will not remain permanently in this enclave of Key Biscayne, since its dissolution is scheduled within three weeks.

For the construction of this sand castle more than 1,800 tons of sand were needed. (EFE)
