Baptist Hospital of Miami was ranked No. 6 in Florida in the ranking of the publication’s Best Hospitals in its 2017-18 U.S. News & World Report. It was also ranked number one in South Florida.

The Miami-based hospital was one of 11 South Florida hospitals to earn this designation.

U.S. News bases its ranking on measures that include patient experience and safety, as well as nursing quality and other care-related indicators. This year’s findings are based on five years of Medicare data covering more than 60 million hospitalizations.

The “Best Hospitals” ranking report allows patients to make better health care decisions, the publication said in a news release.

This story has been corrected. An earlier version erroneously stated that the Cleveland Clinic was ranked as the best in South Florida.
