Downtown
The streets of downtown Miami are full of people, especially during the day. You will recognize this area because it is full of skyscrapers. In the zoona center you will also find the neighborhood of Little Havana, one of the most famous ethnic neighborhoods in the city. Calle Ocho is the most popular among tourists, and although it is not advisable to visit it at night, it is worth walking during the day.
Miami Beach
This is the central area surrounded by the sea, located north of South Beach. A neighborhood with restored deco buildings. In this aspect you must visit Collins Avenue. It is also well known for its beaches, there you will find the famous Haulover Beach Park or the beautiful Miami Boardwalk.
South Beach
South Beach is the liveliest and most iconic area of Miami. Everyone has engraved in their retina the beach , muscular bodies exercising on the promenade, dirty skaters, exclusive clubs and pubs … All this is concentrated here, in the southern area of Miami Beach.
Key Biscayne
To get to the island of Key Biscayne, you will have to cross the Rickenbacker Causeway, an elevated road above the sea that will offer you a unique experience. The Biscayne area is characterized by beautiful white sand beaches, green parks and very picturesque residential areas.
Bal Harbour
This neighborhood is best known for its trendy boutiques. This elite and glamorous area is located between Surfside and Haulover beaches, with water to the east and west. That makes the properties here very exclusive (and very expensive), with some private homes and apartments in tall buildings that only the very wealthy can afford. As you can imagine, the shops and restaurants in the area are in total harmony with all the luxury that surrounds them.
Coconut Grove
The highlight of the Coconut Grove area (known by locals as “The Grove”) is the CocoWalk, a huge shopping and entertainment complex. In CocoWalk there are shops, restaurants and plenty of nightlife. It is a very popular area for tourists and it is natural that at some point in your trip you pass through this place. The pedestrian area of Coconut Grove gives the feeling of being a small bohemian village, it is an area with a very relaxed atmosphere.
Coral Gables
Coral Gables is also a very quiet and relaxed place. The neighborhood consists of a set of Mediterranean-style houses, and was originally developed by George Merrick in 1925. He also established a very luxurious hotel that has appeared in some films: The Biltmore Hotel. Its streets are mostly residential but are very well decorated and city. The highlight of the neighborhood is the Venetian Pool.
Design District
As its name suggests, it is the design district, the place where the city’s creatives live and work. It is an area full of art galleries, graphic designers, workshops, decoration shops, antique shops and even some innovative restaurants. All of these stores are located between North Miami Avenue and 2nd Street. And although Design District is very small, it is a very popular destination among tourists.
Little Havana
This small neighborhood is located in downtown Miami. This is the Cuban neighborhood, the place where immigrants settled in the years after Castro’s revolution. The main street is known as Calle Ocho (SW Eighth Street) and is the heart of Little Havana.
Little Haiti
This is the other ethnic neighborhood of Miami, much less touristy than the Cuban neighborhood. The area has art galleries, Haitian book and music shops and the Cultural Center, where dance and theater performances are held. A bronze statue of General Toussaint Louverture, the father of Haiti’s independence, stands northeast of 2nd Avenue and 62nd Street in the heart of “La Petite Haiti.”
Sunny Isles
The atmosphere at Sunny Isles Beach is relaxed. A beachfront set of ’50s motels are giving way to luxury apartment towers and hotels. However, little has changed at Newport’s fishing pier. Sunny Isles is often referred to as the Florida Riviera. It’s a beachy community and a great racial mix.
