It is not surprising that Miami, with its sun, its beaches and its powerful financial sector has been chosen by Career Bliss as the best city in the United States to work. The well-known employment page, which has carried out an analysis based on eight variables, places the most important city in Florida at number one in the ranking, ahead of other cities such as Sacramento, Washington or Las Vegas. It is also not surprising that in this top 10 appears another city in Florida: Orlando is placed at number 4.
Factors studied by Career Bliss range from employee satisfaction, including work-life balance, to an employee’s relationship with their boss and co-workers, overall work environment, compensation, advancement opportunities, company culture, or resources.
“We’re seeing the beginnings of a start-up culture in Miami,” Heidi Golledge, CEO and co-founder of Career Bliss, told Fortune magazine. “More and more startups are venturing out of Silicon Valley and generating new opportunities in cities across the country. Even more encouraging is that more traditional companies are evolving and adding positive changes to traditional workplaces,” stated Golledge.
Precisely the balance between a good work environment and the possibilities of entertainment outside it seem to be the main keys to the happiness of a company’s employees. Looking at the list, it can be clearly deduced that the climate of a city is decisive. Not surprisingly, the worst cities to develop a professional career are those where the winter is harsher.
Cleveland, Ohio, is the city with the worst score in the United States. It is followed by Indianapolis, Kansas City and Salt Lake City, in the state of Utah.
