With such stiff competition it was time for the Mary Brickell Village Mall, andn South Miami Avenue, between 9th and 10th streets, will be updated and follow the surrounding buildings, which have artwork at the entrance and murals on the exterior walls, such as the SLS LUX Brickell building.

Someone listened, and Mary Brickell Village is getting a makeover, with a $10 million investment that transforms the storefronts and plaza into a more welcoming outdoor space for a light bite to eat or grab a coffee in the middle of a shopping spree.

In the evenings, a chic but still relaxed atmosphere, without the demands of other places too elegant, will allow dining in restaurants, which will surely be frequented by millennials, who prefer to live in the urban center of Miami. To

The redevelopment, designed by architecture firm Perkins + Will, aims to preserve the mall’s character while improving access to shops and restaurants. The goal is to turn it into a green oasis, which is a variation between both concrete, glass and minimalist buildings. Awnings, plants and cozy boutiques give it a more character in the style of old Miami. All this with the advantages of technology: renovated elevators and free Wi-Fi.

Alein Cadalso, general manager of Mary Brickell Village, recalled that when the mall opened 13 years ago it was the only one in the area that offered “a complete dining experience, fun and trendy for families and young people in the heart of the Brickell district.”

The center of the new Mary Brickell Village will be the East Courtyard, which will offer families, healthy living and exercise enthusiasts and pet owners an outdoor venue for meetings and cultural events.

Mary Brickell Village will feature restaurants and clubs such as North Italia, Shake Shack, and Moxie’s, among others. And the LA Fitness, Publix and Starbucks gyms, all of which remain open during the remodel, will remain open.

In an area where parking is scarce, it has 800 parking spaces, in a seven-story garage.

“By the end of this year, the transformation of downtown, with modern restaurants, new amenities and unique offerings, will once again present Mary Brickell Village as the place where people gather, share experiences and create lifelong memories,” Cadalso summarized.
